It all began many years ago, when I was but a wee lad living in the depths of the Maine woods, with only books and three TV stations to entertain me during those bitter, desolate winters that the New England countryside has a habit of producing during the first months of the new year. Although this portion of my childhood wasn't the most exciting time in my life, it was remarkable in a way (at least for me), for it was when my full-blown obsession with the greatest game of them all began. Watching Michael Jordan dominate the competition during the '96 season on NBC (ah, the good old days) turned me into an irredeemable hoops junkie, and to this day I can vividly remember him collapsing on the floor of the United Center after vanquishing the Sonics in a relatively unremarkable six game series.
This blog will explore this addiction, and try to offer up some fresh insights into the game (which may be tough with such outstanding blogs as Free Darko, Hardwood Paroxysm, Ball Don't Lie, Basketbawful, Truehoop, etc. dominating the scene). An occasional foray will be made into other subjects, but for the forseeable future I will concentrate my efforts exclusively on the sometimes-baffling-but-always-fascinating league we all know as the NBA.
